World Record-Breaking CPR & AED Training Event

Each and every one of the estimated 43,000 Scouts and leaders expected in attendance at the 2010 National Scout Jamboree are invited to participate in an event attempting to break the World Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillation (AED) training record. Not only will participants be able to stake their claim as being part of this historic event, but they will return home with the ability to perform these life-saving skills in their communities if ever called upon.

This once in a lifetime opportunity will take place on July 29, 2010 from 8:00 AM – 9:00 PM at the Fort A.P. Hill Arena. Thirteen separate group training sessions will be conducted and will begin promptly at each hour mark. Participants will be issued nationally-recognized CPR & AED course completion cards from the Emergency Care and Safety Institute.

Stay tuned to Boy Scouts of America’s email notifications for further information. A website dedicated to this World record-breaking event is available at http://boyscouts.ecsinstitute.org/WorldRecord.

How it Works:

  • Troops will be provided the opportunity to secure an hourly time session on a first come, first served basis.
  • Trainings will be one hour long. A schedule will be made available shortly.
  • A maximum of 2,500 participants will be placed in each session.
  • Groups are to arrive at least 15 minutes before their assigned training session for registration. Jamboree Staff will scan each participant’s badge to register them as they enter the arena.
  • Each session will begin promptly on the hour mark.
  • Each session will be directed by the on-stage Coordinator and Instructors and the activity will be displayed prominently on the large screen to be viewed throughout the arena.
  • 2,500 latex-free manikin training kits will be positioned throughout the arena to conduct the hands-on CPR and AED skills. 2,500 laminated AED instructional sheets, complete with illustrations and step-by-step instructions, will also be positioned with the manikins for the hands-on AED skills.
  • When the training is complete, each participant will be instructed to exit the arena.
  • Course Completion Cards will be made available immediately to troop leaders, who will distribute these to their participating troop members.
